About the research laboratory LISEC (UR 2310)

The Laboratoire Interuniversitaire des Sciences de l’Éducation et de la Communication (LISEC) is a pluridisciplinary research unit. It brings together some seventy university academics mainly in Education, Information and Communication Sciences and Psychology. Its members work in the various universities of Alsace and Lorraine, in the East of France, namely the University of Strasbourg, the University of Haute Alsace, and the University of Lorraine.

LISEC also hosts about 50 associate researchers from other universities and more than a hundred PhD students.

LISEC is organized into four research teams:

  • Activité, travail et Identité Professionnelle (Activity, Work, and Professional Identity) : the team’s work focuses on the delimitation of action areas in the field of adult education and the study of devices as study fields;
  • Normes et Valeurs (Norms and Values) : the team’s work focuses on the philosophical, historical and anthropological dimensions of educational areas, the epistemological and ethical approach of the devices that shape the current educational landscape;
  • Apprentissages, Pratiques d’Enseignement et d’Education (Learning, Teaching and Education Practices) : the team’s work focuses on uncovering the engineering processes that transform school and university areas into devices, studying the place occupied by subjects in these devices and the phenomena that cause the devices in turn to become school and university areas;
  • Technologies et Communication (Technology and Communication) : the team’s work focuses on the study of the political and cognitive dimensions of digital devices within educational areas and scientific mediation mechanisms in the social sphere.

LISEC is composed of three sites, respectively called LISEC-Unistra and LISEC-UHA in Alsace, and LISEC-Lorraine in Lorraine. It is headed by a Director-General from one of the three sites, supported by two site managers. Each research team chooses one or two team leaders.

The three directors form the LISEC Bureau.The Bureau relies on the Laboratory Council, composed of 13 permanent members (directors, team leaders and elected members) and 4 elected PhD delegates.

LISEC’s support staff comprises of an administrative manager at the University of Lorraine, a research engineer at the UHA and 3 partial management periods at Unistra.
